Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to look at my site and your interest in my campaign.

Whether you live in District 3 or not, please take your time and read my site and let me know how you feel about my Platform. Go to the Platform page and look at ideas I have related to your specific precinct or the county as a whole.

About Me

Many of you probably already know me or may remember my run for commissioner in the Primary of 2002. I was very pleased with the support I got then and I am ready to make a strong run in the fall with the experience I gained from my first campaign.

My parents are Jerry and Mildred Davidson of Yeaddiss. Our family has operated a grocery store here for the past twenty-two years. My grandparents were the late Roe and Edna Davidson of Hyden and Lue Lewis of Yeaddiss. I have one living grandparent, Masie Lewis of Yeaddiss.

I have been married for twelve years to Sandra Cornett Davidson and we have two girls, Samantha, eleven, and Kasey, eight.

Many of you may know me from the bluegrass band WolfCreek Grass.

Some main points of my campaign:

  • If elected, I am giving my entire first year salary back to the people for a community project
  • My office will provide a variety of free services on a daily basis
  • The children of our county are my my main concern
  • I want all of our citizens to know what elected officials should be doing in regard to the law
  • I want our children and grandchildren to be able to remain here when they are older and have good jobs to support their families
  • Remember that it will be another four years before you will get a chance to change our county again for the good for your family
  • Our Roads will be inspected Daily
  • Our graveyards will be maintained and mowed
  • I am planning a Coal Miner Festival that will have major entertainment and bring much needed revenue to our fire departments, community centers and new parks and bring more recognition to our miners
  • Water and sewage services for everyone who wants it
  • I plan to put a computer in the home of every child in our district
  • Creation of four wheeler trails and campgrounds to boost our local economy

These are just a few of the ideas we have had. Lets Get To Work on Them. Vote Greg Davidson, Magistrate

Time for change

I do not have to tell you that we have had almost no progress when it comes to economic and community development here in Leslie County.  There are many reasons for this, but the main reason is the lack of effort put forth toward these critical issues. Your tax dollars pay the salary for your officials and you and I should make sure that they work it as a full time job.

Please go to the Platform page to see how I will address this problem and make sure our children and grandchildren can live here and have a good job to support their families. Our children are our most valuable asset. They make up a small percentage of our population but they are 100% of our future.

One of the main goals of my campaign is to educate our people about the duties of county officials. Many of you have been suprised to learn that a magistrate has almost no duties outside of the fiscal court, except that he can marry couples with the consent of the county judge or take applications for notary publics.

As a member of the fiscal court, however, magistrates have a wide array of duties, many that we have never seen executed here in Leslie County. You don't have to take my word for it, go to the links page for directions to the state website that describes it in full detail.

Roads have always been the main concern of our past politicians. However, this duty is just a drop in the bucket compared to what they are supposed to be doing regarding the development of our county.

Consequently, many roads are in the worst shape they have been in for years. Many of them though will get a fresh coating of gravels before the election, I just hope that people can see through this tactic that has been going on since the invention of the gravel truck. When it gets close to the election I always feel sorry for chickens, dogs, turtles, and other animals who are trying to cross the road between hundreds of loads of gravel.

Roads should be maintained regularly. Many have been ignored for years. There are many places throughout the county that the roads need to be widened and guardrails need to be installed for the safety of our people. My office will address these issues on a daily basis.

There are many issues that are a big concern to me. We must realize that the development of our county can not be attained by working once a month. That is why my office will work everyday and be available to you twenty four hours a day providing a variety of services including:

  • Constantly working on infrastructure so companies can locate here
  • Constantly seeking out emerging industries to provide jobs to our people
  • Working with state and federal agencies to seek out funding and resources for our fire departments, senior citizen centers, community centers, and all of our people
  • Working with the Small Business Administration to help our people start their own business or expand their current business
  • Constantly work to maintain our roads and make sure they are safe. My office will work to widen many roads and install guard rails where they are long overdue
  • Working daily on promoting tourism and making more parks and recreational facilities in our county
  • Providing computers and other tools and resources to our children
  • Offering Job Search assistance, Job Skills training, and other training and information to jobseekers
  • Offering scholarship and grant searches to our students and helping them apply for financial aid
  • Providing disaster relief in emergencies

These are just a few of the services that will be available to you on a daily basis if I am elected. I have been working the past six years researching and developing relationships with many private organizations as well as state and federal agencies that are there to help us. All I need is your vote to get started.

Don't forget to go to the Platform page to see a few of my ideas for community and economic development.

Your Vote is a Right and a Responsiblity

Around an election, there is electricity in the air. People are excited about their favorite candidates and have hopes of a better future. Unfortunately, many do not even get out and vote, thinking that their vote would not matter or their vote will be lost. This could not be farther from the truth. No matter who you vote for, you send a message that you are concerned about the well-being of your families and fellow citizens.

Futhermore, you and I have no right to complain about our officials if we do not participate in our elections or let people elect the same old politicians who have had a record of neglecting their county.

DONT SELL YOUR VOTE AND DIGNITY!!

Almost everyone knows that politics are corrupt, and Leslie County is no exception. Don't get me wrong, we have had some good officials here in our county, but corruption still exists. Vote buying, either with money, liquor, or special favors, is an inevitable part of our elections here in Leslie County.

For example, you can not go up a holler with 20 people in it and pay 15 of them to 'haul voters.' It is virtually impossible. Some candidates have good intentions, but a majority do not.

Other candidates will just flagrantly break the law and pay you cash or some other special favor. I guess they think that they they know more than you do and can speak for you by offering you money.

Think of it this way. If someone pays you 50 dollars for your vote, in effect, if they are elected they are giving you ONE DOLLAR AND FOUR CENTS  a month for your vote over their four year term, all while they are paid thousands for working for you when they feel like it.

This sets a very bad example for our young people and you and I must break this cycle.

I can recall elections where certain candidates payed out thousands of dollars and the citizens of our county took their money and voted for somebody else.

Don't take me wrong. If you have good intentions of hauling voters for someone then by all means go for it. If you know the candidates intentions are not good, it is a violation of state law.

I am a typical Leslie Countian. I do not have the money to pay you for your vote. I would not do it anyway if I was a billionaire because I value your opinion and right to vote for who you want to. I want to pay you by being elected fairly and working hard for you and your family everyday. Lets put a stop to this corruption for the sake of our children.

LETS SEND A MESSAGE

Lets let our county, state, and nation know that we are ready to change and work aggresively for development.

I am not saying that I am the answer to our problems. It will take the effort of all of us and a strong will to produce sustainable communities here in our county. I am not going to promise you something that I can't do, but I can promise you that I will work hard everyday for you and your family.

I would like to ask one thing of you. When you step into that voting booth, ask yourself if you want to keep things they way they are. Do you think that your children and grandchildren will be able to remain here in Leslie County when they grow up and lead a rich, productive life? If you are tired of it all, give me your vote. Do it for your children.

Maybe you are satisfied with your life here in Leslie County and don't care if we have any development here or not. Think of it this way. You have nothing to lose. Things can't get much worse. I believe that you would be pleased by the work that my office could do for you. At least consider it. You will be stuck with your decision for the next four years.

"......I Look forward to working with you in the future."---- Senator Daniel Mongiardo

"Keep up the good work. I hope to be able to work with you in the future. Feel free to call on me anytime."

---Senator Mitch McConnell

"You have the spark to make a difference. People like you are catalysts for revolution. Perhaps Leslie County's political revolution is long overdue." ---Jonathan Gaines, International Account Manager, Aramark Corporation
